Healthy Fastfood

When I was pregnant with Jack Jack, I didn’t have a housekeeper. We lived in a condominium and I was pretty sure I could handle things without help. That pregnancy allowed me to cook only a few dishes. The smell of frying something makes me gag and cooking other menus for one is hard for me – also called laziness.

Most of the time, I would order food. We were located in Ortigas then so almost every restaurant offers delivery. I had an overflowing folder full of restaurant menus. All I had to do is dial the number, order what I want to eat and the food will be at my doorstep in less than an hour.

My fear is that I don’t know exactly what goes in the food I ordered. As a solution, I’d try to eat healthy now and then. But the lazy side of me is just winning every time. Here’s a healthy and easy recipe I pulled up over the internet. I just can’t remember where it was from.

Ingredients:

Fresh Milk

Oat Meal

Water

Any Fruit/Dried Fruit (I would alternate fresh bananas or dried mangoes)

Procedure:

  1. Mix oatmeal and water.
  2. Heat in microwave or stove.
  3. Mix the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Adjust to taste to your liking.
  5. Enjoy!

I used the same recipe when I was nursing. Oatmeal is high in fiber, nutritious and easy to prepare.
